Support is here – Armidale Dementia Carers Support Group

Caring for someone with dementia can be rewarding, but it’s also a huge responsibility and has its challenges.

Carers often neglect their own well being when they are focusing on their clients or loved one’s needs. It is very demanding on many levels — physically, mentally and emotionally.

This support group is designed to be a safe place for carers. Carers can attend and share experiences, learn new skills and enjoy the benefits of a social and supportive group.

There will be:

  • Educational speakers
  • Monthly meet ups
  • Practical information and advice

The Armidale Dementia Carer Support Group meet up once a month from 10am – 12pm at the Duval Room at the Armidale City Bowling Club.

This service may be available under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, a Home Care Package, or for self-funded clients.

Fees and charges vary dependant on a range of factors including, your aged care eligibility, the type of service and the government funding available to you.

Home Nursing Group fees are increased annually in line with the Government subsidy increase. Please call us for detailed information on our pricing.

The video above features Home Nursing Group Dementia Support Worker, Sally Henry, who coordinates this support group. Sally shares some valuable suggestions on communicating with someone living with dementia.

This video is one of several in a dementia video series produced by HealthWISE, that educates and provides suggestions that may help carers of people living with dementia, and care workers who come in contact with carers through their work in the community.
