The clients and staff at the Jacaranda Social Club (JSC) and Home Nursing Group, have recently farewelled long time staff member, Stephanie Watts. Steph was the Jacaranda House Program Coordinator and is making a sea change for a lifelong dream, realised after a commitment of over 10 years to the local aged care residents of Armidale.
Steph and her husband Brian have been awarded positions as relief managers within the chain of North Coast Reflections Holiday Parks, and will be taking up these roles from mid-February 2018.
“This is our dream job, so we have accepted the offer,” Steph says, “over 10 years working with our wonderful clients at the Jacaranda Club, it will be hard to leave, but I know the program is in good hands and will go on”.
Steph is looking forward to taking this shift in her career as a longer term path to retirement, “It’s going to be a steep learning curve for us but we are both very excited to relocate to the coast and be closer to our children and grandchildren who no longer live here in Armidale”, she said.
As a trained Diversional Therapist and Coordinator at JSC, Steph was dedicated to her work with seniors of all abilities to design and facilitate leisure and recreation programmes.
The JSC will continue in its current format at Kent House, with weekly activities running from Tuesday to Friday. All enquiries about the program can be made on 1300 698 693 and for the latest monthly calendar click here.
The Jacaranda Social Club has a variety of activities designed to promote positive interactions and to meet client’s social, physical and emotional needs. Clients are encouraged to focus on their strengths more than their limitations, therefore increasing levels of engagement and participation.
The activities focus on strengths more than limitations, and seek to increase levels of engagement and active participation. The club aims to strengthen community bonds and provide fun opportunities for our local citizens, with activities including pottery and ceramics classes, concerts by NECOM, musical entertainment, bus outings, gardening, local history talks, ‘Mind, Body and Balance’ exercise classes, drumming, choir, and more.
The staff and clients at JSC and Home Nursing Group wish Steph and her husband all the best for their future endeavours.
