Single Charter of Aged Care Rights

Consumers receiving aged care services in Australia have the right to be properly looked after, treated well and given high quality care and services. The rights of Aged Care consumers are protected by a Charter of Aged Care Rights.

Previous Charters of Care Recipients Rights and Responsibilities have been replaced by a Single Charter of Rights that came into effect on 1 July 2019. The new Charter is more comprehensive and provides the same rights, regardless of what type of government-funded or subsidised care consumers receive.

Between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019, all Home Nursing Group consumers will be provided with a copy of the new Charter and the opportunity to sign and return the Charter, in acknowledgement of their receiving and being provided with assistance to understand the Charter. Consumers are still able to access care should they prefer not to sign and return the Charter. The documents are available in 18 translated languages and our staff will offer translated copies should that be your preference.
